Araucaria (Araucaria angustifolia) is a native Brazilian gymnosperm species belonging to the Araucariaceae family. It is characteristic of the Mixed Ombrophilous Forest, a vegetation formation of the Atlantic Forest, mainly found in southern and southeastern Brazil.

It is a perennial, large and long-lived tree, with a generally straight trunk and a crown formed by branches arranged in tiers. Its reproductive structures are cones, commonly known as pine cones, which produce seeds called pinhões.

Ecologically, the species is highly important because it provides food for several wildlife species and contributes to biodiversity conservation, soil protection, carbon storage, and the balance of forest ecosystems.
